Our Evening For Our Stars Auction is complete. A BIG thank you to all of you for your support, we really appreciate it. We had lots of "sports" related things and have some items that we are "selling" before the left-overs go back to the consignment store. They make great Christmas Gifts.

Jeans Day Snacks!!!

Thank you all so much for participating in the jeans day fundraiser. To show our appreciation, and in keeping with the message of teaching children and families healthy lifestyles, I’m setting out some healthy snacks in the kitchen for everyone to enjoy. Stop down when you have a few minutes and grab a bite to eat.

Evening For Our Stars

On October 3, from 7-11 pm, Big Brothers Big Sisters will be hosting our Reception and Silent Auction at Oak Pointe Country Club. We come together to celebrate mentoring and our wonderful volunteers. The auction helps us raise much needed funds to continue our goal of helping more children become confident, competent, caring adults.
Tickets are pre-paid so we have the right count and enough fabulous food for everyone, $40 per person or $75.00 per couple. No one goes away hungry or thirsty (cash bar). Livingston County businesses are so generous, we have many wonderful auction items; airline tickets, jewelry, gift cards, etc. There are fun raffles also. Maybe you will be the lucky one to win a smart TV with Home Theater system. Take your chance on a bottle of wine, will you get 2 buck chuck or something special worth $100! If you would like to make a donation to advertise your business, we would love it! Consider our event for a Christmas shopping opportunity as you make a real positive difference in a child's life. Jeans Day Fundraiser-next Friday, 9/12/14

Good afternoon everyone,
As in years past, I am emailing regarding the now-annual McPherson Mansion "jeans day" fundraiser event. It will be held next Friday, September 12, 2014 for the non-profit corporation, Association for Child Development (ACD).
ACD is a sponsor of the Child and Adult Care Food Program and administers the program for more than 50,000 children enrolled in its sponsorship. The federal program funds only cover the meals and a portion of the supervision, field operations, and administration costs for this amazing organization, though, and it is up to the organization and its board of directors, of whom I am a member, to raise funds to continue operating each year.
As you may know, September is National Childhood Obesity Awareness month. The goal of the observance is to build awareness of the seriousness of childhood obesity and to help motivate families, communities, and businesses through awareness events. Participation in these events shows that everyone can play a role in the prevention and impact of childhood obesity.
In conjunction with this month of awareness, ACD has organized a "dress down day" event throughout Michigan and Indiana where participants make a donation to ACD and wear casual dress (or jeans) on Friday, September 12, 2014. Myers & Myers has chosen to participate in this fun event and encourages you to do so too. On the day of the event, we will have a flyer or poster in the greeting area to inform our guests that a special event is occurring.
In exchange for wearing jeans or other casual attire this day, ACD requests that each participant make a donation of at least $5. I will be collecting the funds and remitting them to ACD along with an event recap and donation form. I recognize that there are many great organizations that need fundraising help these days (including those in our own building), so participation is voluntary. Additionally, while the decision-makers at Myers & Myers have approved this event for our firm, if you have a typical dress code, you should seek approval from the decision-maker at your organization in order to participate. If you are able to participate and support this great organization, please stop by my office (202 - right above the kitchen) on that day to make your donation and get your participation sticker. If you will not be able to participate on the selected day, feel free to choose another day in September and just stop by my office with your donation.
One very important outcome of this event is to develop partnerships among the diverse groups who impact children through nutrition. By working together we can begin to stop this epidemic in its tracks. I would love for you to join us in our efforts and participate in this jeans day event. As part of our continued efforts to maintain a comfortable work environment in our building, management has asked that you close your office door if you choose to open a window. Open windows create havoc on the HVAC system, which we are continuously monitoring and adjusting to maintain a comfortable temperature for all tenants. Thank you.
